KRAVITZ

Once fully dedicated to his cause of being a Reaper for the Raven Queen, Kravitz finds himself adrift and far more mortal than he'd like on the archipelago of LifeAftr. While he has anchors in the form of friends from home and new ones he's gained here, he still struggles to adapt to a new life where he's just a little more average than he previously was. It's partially a relief and partially incredibly infuriating, which hasn't resolved in over a year now. He continues to push his limits versus being a "mortal" against being a "god", and never quite belonging to either camp.

Despite any limitations to his person, Kravitz' priorities will always be to keep the balance of the natural order, and protect the ones he cares about from death and it's clutches. While he may not be death's avatar, he still has respect for the passage of the world- but as he forges bonds and clings more to those connections, he's finding in himself that there may have been a bit more mortal in him after all.

TAAKO

Likely the person he's closest to on the islands, Taako is baffling at his best and outright unreadable at his worst. Kravitz can't pinpoint a moment where Taako charmed him exactly- maybe it's because Taako treats him like a normal person, maybe it's because he continues to show interest even when Kravitz is an absolute mess, or maybe it's just because he's utterly captivating, but he's absolutely in it for the long haul. Regardless of the reason, it brings him a lot of comfort that if he needs to be going through such a trial in another world, Taako will be there by his side.

At the beginning of their time here, Kravitz found himself more attached than he thinks he should have been, but Taako continues to give so he will continue to present in return. While he's quietly afraid that this will eventually end as Taako finds someone more his speed, he's trying to believe the reassurances Taako has given him, quiet things he does that ask him to stay. It's hard to say when he'll come to feeling secure in his space by the elf's side, but he's at least reached one milestone.

He'll fight to keep living alongside him.

LUP

Taako's twin sister, met under less than ideal circumstances. He doesn't have basis for why Taako failed to mention her back in Faerun when she was supposedly inside his umbrella, but since their first meeting was technically being used against him, it took a while until they were on the same page. Add that onto the fact that she's been hostile, teasing, and incredibly undead, and none of it quite makes him happy-- but she is Taako's sister, and that is a fact he needs to keep in mind.

While her lichness made him plenty uncomfortable, Lup has been proving herself to be more responsible as time wears on, and after learning much about the circumstances where they became liches he finds himself understanding those desperate measures more and more. While they've found their way to mutual respect, they're both hanging on a tenuous edge of the known future- eventually, they will return home. Eventually, Kravitz will be bound to his duty.

But it's getting harder and harder to simply accept that as fact.

At first, Kravitz had no idea what to think that his boyfriend had run off on island time for a year and suddenly adopted a child. More than that, an eccentric one who tried teaching him how to sleep, and was delighted by even movements of leaves. He didn't appreciate what she brought at the start, when he was too busy and caught up in the worries of his own mind. But... events proceeded. Time marched on. And now he is sure he will take her back to the Astral Plane with him when this is all over.

It may seem ironic to come from a dying girl, but Ren is the one who taught Kravitz how to live. Every little moment of surprise, every time she delights him in ways he can't comprehend, the happiness that takes his heart when she smiles. It's rare that Kravitz has ever been in a position to truly save someone- bounties must be collected, souls must be put right. But Ren has taught him a lot about prioritizing the self, and about caring for others in ways that exceed what he thought possible- quite literally at some points. She's a constant companion, and he's grateful for her presence.

No matter what happens, he's looking forward to never being alone again.

TIM WRIGHT

Tim is complicated in a sense Kravitz can't fully quantify. He's had tons of interaction with people despairing around death, people in circumstances beyond them fighting an unjust fight,but this is... different. Maybe it's because he keeps meddling where it isn't his job. Maybe it's because in other situations, their interactions would stop when his case was close. Maybe it's just because, for the first time in a long time, Tim makes Kravitz face the possibility of unfair odds and approaching this like a mortal. There is no waiting for a god to work it out, or putting the world in order; there's just survival, and that concept is difficult to balance when he can't take action.

Conversely to that, Tim has spoken to him on perfectly good terms, so he imagines the other man must not hate him. Still, his desire to help and Tim's desire to not talk about himself clash more often than Kravitz would like, and he has yet to find a good middle ground. Maybe, if he listens more than he speaks, they can find some sort of resolution. Regardless of their relationship to each other, Tim's world is absolutely getting noted when they get out of here- he still has the thought that perhaps, he can save everyone at his own expense.

At the core of it, he may be exactly the kind of person Tim always finds surrounding him, for better or for worse.
